General Muhoozi Discuss Military Cooperation With IMATT

The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba engage in discussions with the Indian Military Advisers Training Team (IMATT) who are based in Jinja to assess the areas of military cooperation between Uganda and India.

The meeting was attended by Commander Airforce Lt Gen Charles Okidi at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe.

A statement from the CDF’s office noted, “Uganda and India share a strong and mutually beneficial military relationship. Our goal is to deepen and enhance this cooperation.”

Uganda-India Relations

In 2018, Uganda and India signed a defence pact in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uganda.

The agreement was aimed at reinforcing the existing military training partnerships between the two countries.

The defence pact was one of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed at State House Entebbe during the two-day state visit of Indian Prime Minister then.
